DTMF not working on outbound calls

I have a STE version running currently under asktersik 1.6.0.15. I have tried severeal flavors of 1.6.x but in all I can not get DTMF to be recognized when a call is placed to an external IVR. I am set to RFC for DTMF in the extension.

Is this likely a problem with the 1.6.x line and would 1.4 or 1.8 be a better solution?

it could be an incompatibility with your upstream provider.. who is your upstream provider?

routes through a local CLEC and then through Network360. With a little more fooling around...I had 711u, 711a, gsm configed. Took out 711a and gsm and it seems to work better. Does that make sense?

perhaps. I know that theres some versions have issues with SONUS and the work-around was to have the provider switch his side from RFC2833 to SIP INFO, and then change the asterisk side to use sip info.
