How do I set the callerid for outgoing faxes?

Posted by k3leland on Thu, 09/09/2010

Is it possible to set the callerid for outgoing faxes to be something other than the "Default External Caller ID"?
I am running PBX Manager 6.1.1.5.

are you that concerned about callerid? The Station ID is what gets printed at the top of the fax page.. would that not be ok enough?

Our customers are specific about the callerid that is outpulsed on each line. Generally they have the main number for all outgoing calls except for their fax lines.

In the case where a customer has only one fax line, can sendfax_template.txt be modified to achieve this?

Also, The Station ID is not even working for us currently.
Can someone please verify that the station id is printed at the top of the faxed pages for PBX Manager 6.1.1.5?

Steps to reproduce:

Using the Send Fax function in the user portal.
Populate all the required fields plus the Station ID with a 10 digit tn and send the fax.
Receive the fax at the physical remote fax machine.
Check for the station id at the top of the faxed pages.

I am not seeing any trace of the station id at the top of the faxed pages.

We can see that the station id is being set properly in the dialplan so we are opening a ticket with Digium on this issue.

hpbx0*CLI> fax show version
FAX For Asterisk Components:
Applications: 1.6.2.0_1.2.1
Digium FAX Driver: 1.6.2.0_1.2.1 (optimized for opteron_sse3_64)

sendfax_template.txt can have extra variables added.. and if you notice sendfax_template.txt also specifies what context and script to run. You could replace the script use and modify sendfax_template.txt to pass more varaibles.. then yes you could trick the system to pass the same value that you use for STATIONID as your callerid.
