Incoming call screen POP doesn't work

Posted by grootma on Mon, 09/26/2011

Hi there,

Our telephony provider uses a Thirdlane PBX which we connect to.
We also use the Thirdlane Dialer Add-on to place outbound calls.
We really would like to get a screen pop when there's a call coming in, this should also be possible with the dialer add-on.
Somehow this doesn't work, we probably need to tell our provider to open of forward some ports on their PBX.

Does anybody know what ports should be opened for the screen pops?

We are using HTTPS port 10000 to connect to our PBX.
On some PC's we're also using a softphone, connected on port 5060, both these ports are already open.

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Martijn.

its not going to work. it only works when the PBX is on the same network as the phones. The application sends a message to port 12001 of the IP addresses stored when your client registered into the user portal. But guess what? Your behind NAT, which means ALL of your PCs registered with that same IP address. There's no way to reach your PC unless everyone has a unique IP address. Hence why it only works on the same network.

consider using iSymphony for incoming screen pops or the user portal screen pop section

Thanks Erik for your reply.

Too bad I can't get the screenpops to work.
I'll try opening port 12001 and do a NAT to my personal (fixed) IP.
Since we only have 3 telephone lines, I wouldn't mind to see screenpops from all of these lines.

I tried to install iSymphony yesterday, but didn't get it to work.
Can you use iSymphony Client without installing iSymphony Server?

One last question: What do you mean with 'user portal screen pop section'?
There's a 'CRM screen pops' chapter in the user portal, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

Best regards,

Martijn.

Hi Erik,

I did a NAT to my IP-address, and guess what... it works!
My router can't do NAT to multiple addresses, so I now have to find some kind of application that listens to port 12001, and transmits any messages to multiple IP addresses.

Your remark about port 12001 put me on the right track, thanks.
