queues

Posted by isrighthere on Fri, 02/29/2008

I would lke to have an option for a mobile number to be placed (like an agent) in a queue, so that when one of my engineers is on call, it rings his sip phone and mobile. if i setup an extension with follow-me enabled and i call that extension, i can get it to ring the mobile and the extension as required.

If i then put that extension into a queue, the follow-me rules are not honoured and only that extension rings. Has anyone had any success with this kind of setup?

thanks in advance.

I have the same question.

Our plan is to sell mobile extension so the user always uses the mobile phone. Therefore it would be lovely if the user could pick up queue calls on his cellphone. The world would be even better if the user had to verify the call with a digit or so.

Im sorry if i have asked this earlier.

this is not possible because app_queue cannot control the pstn. youll either have to use agentlogin (NOT agentcallbacklogin) where the agent stays on the phone the entire time and callers get connected, or run a sip client on the phone. A cell phone is no place for a queue agent. its unprofessional and schwagg. cell phone service will end up dumping callers out of the queue and into the cellphone voicemail even when already on a call.

Hello eeman,

Earlier we used a wicom pbx and when the queue call was transferred to a cellphone the person that answered the call had to verify it by pressing 1 to take the call. if not the call was never connected to the cellphone and by that never sent into voicemail.

Our customers in the beginnig will be small companies that only uses cellphones (like carpenters and so on), they usually wants one queue for the main number and then the extensions are in the queue and all the extensions are using followme to the cellphones.

The voicemail of the cellphones are turned off, so we are using the voicemail of the pbx.

Another time its good to have the queue calls to a cellphone is when a receptionist have to leave their seat for manage the daily mail or so, she only takes the cellphone with her and then can take all the queue calls on that one. We dont want to use any dect system since its expensive and crap. We will use Sip mex straigt from the operators so we will get the invite straigt from the cellphone into our thirdlane.

With that solution you can dial extension number, feature codes and so from the cellphone. Really nice solution.

im not so sure you need app_queue for this... i mean if you're talking carpenters etc then by definition, at some point they need to be doing labor. A QUEUE is an application that keeps people on hold waiting for the next available agent. those agents do nothing but answer the phone all day, non stop. A carpenter that doesnt actually do any labor isnt much of a carpenter :) Perhaps huntlists are more in tune to what you are looking for? they distribute calls with ring-groups but do not have a holding area if everyone is already on a call. Your description makes it sound as if you'd be pressed to ever have 2 simultaneous calls let alone all agents busy with 5 people waiting to talk to someone.
