Tenant permissions

Posted by achampagne on Fri, 04/16/2010

Hi,

We are currently evaluating the MTE version and where wondering if it was possible to customize options that are visible to the Tenant Administrator ? We do want the Tenant Admin to be able to create extensions up to the limit, however we do not want the tenant to play around with options such as codec and DTMF mode. Is there a way to hide those to the tenant admin ?

Please advise

Regards
Alexandre Champagne

you can hide the categories in the menu items (like we dont let them monkey with their outbound routes because their account code is embedded into the attributes)

you can also set limits on the number of extensions they can add but as long as their 'license' allows for 15 extensions, they can add up to 15 extensions. Theres nothing that seprates creating/deleting/and editing.

OK,

I had figured out the left menu option, however from what I can see there is no way to prevent a tenant admin to play aroud with the codecs in the extension details.

Right ?

Btw is there a way to setup a defult setting for tenant admin

Also is there a way where the admin should be able to change the admin password by him/her self

So to conclude, can I get a confirmation that there is now way (besides via the "Edit Administrator") to prevent a tenant admin from playing around with the following

1: Voicemail to e-mail configuration
2: Codec support
3: DTMF Mode
4: etc..

We have to assume that our the Tenant admin may be able to provision extensions but has to be prevented from configuring such critical aspects. Also is there a way to prevent a tenant admin to upload 500MB file in a MOH Playlist.

Please confirm so we can start working on workarounds.

Sincerely

Alex

you are correct

as far as the 500mb issue an easy solution is to use the find command to delete files larger than a set size and run it at midnight. Just let customers know ahead of time that theres a size limit. We dont let customers upload files because they keep stupidly uploading mp3 files which causes crashes and consume more resources than I want to allocate to crappy music. It comes up so infrequently that uploading some MOH isnt such a big deal.

I think that both the ability to set the default permissions and more granular control are good ideas.

What (besides the menu controlled stuff) would you like to control or limit?

I think to give for each tenant admin, user portal extensions with no access to the user extension settings or its passwords, would be a great add value, as well as the ability to see his peers, channel/active calls, voice mail and queue status, like pbx info for each tenant

Also the admin should have the option to change his password for admin

And not all administrator should have the ability to see in tenant management page how many other administrators are having access or could have the ability to administer that tenant

On a separate note when using bulk extension creation it does not automatically create extensions with the default setting.

Hope it is not much

Hi,

Configurable items in the extension details. We must again assume tenant admins are allowed to create extensions but global admins should be able to limit what they can play around with on each extension (i.e DTMF, Codecs, voicemail to e-mail, etc..)

Hope this helps

Thanks
