All;
Sorry if this is off topic but I have a customer who has been suffering from many random disconnects the past few days. At first I thought it may be a problem with the SIP provider, but occasionally my ssh connection to their box randomly disconnects me. I'm thinking the two may be related. That tells me there may be a layer 1 problem, perhaps a bad switch port, or frame check errors. However, they have only cheap Linksys switches with no SNMP support, so its hard to really say with certainty. I checked in the logs and I see one or two messages like this:
WARNING[11634] chan_sip.c: Maximum retries exceeded on transmission 1e400a6-e4@147.135.0.128 for seqno 1 (Critical Response) -- See doc/sip-retransmit.txt.
WARNING[11634] chan_sip.c: Hanging up call 1e400a6-e4@147.135.0.128 - no reply to our critical packet (see doc/sip-retransmit.txt).
They claim dozens of dropped calls but I only see a few messages like these. Any insight at all would be greatly appreciated.

"However, they have only cheap Linksys switches "
their next step is to buy a better switch, is their box behind a nat firewall? its also a possible culprit.
