Hi Everybody - We have had one or two customers who wants' to be able to send recorded calls attached to there email.

Push the command via the phone, the call is recorded and when hanging up the system send the recorded file to an email address.

You can already do pretty much the same thing. After you record a call, you can log into the user portal, select "recorded calls", check the call(s) you'd like to send via e-mail and then e-mail them to anyone you'd like.

Just keep in mind that one minute of recorded call ~ 1MB...most email systems will choke on calls that are more than 5 minutes.

change your recording format from wav to WAV and it will be 1/10th the size (same format that arrives in vm to email)

Ok i have just changed the format of our recording from wav to WAV.

And you are correct, a 15 second recording took 24k instead of 245k.

What is this changing? Compressed? Voodoo magic?

Big question would be why isnt this defaulted?

wav is defined as WAVE audio, 16 bit PCM encoded

WAV is defined as WAVE audio, 16 bit GSM encoded

so although they are both wave audio formats, one is using a basic non-compressed PCM codec, while the other is using GSM to compress the audio data. GSM is a lossy codec, but its the same codec used by cell carriers and the default sound package of audio clips in asterisk 1.2.
