Install from USB

Posted by mattdarnell on Wed, 04/18/2018

Has anyone been able to install a TL ISO from a USB drive?

I just spent an hour trying to get it to work (for the 10th time)

Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer, none them work.

Rufus gets the closest, issues with vesamenu.c32, can't find the kickstart file.

Need directions or better yet we need IMG files designed to work from a USB stick.

Who puts a CD-ROM in a PBX?

I used a portable USB DVD-ROM, can be had for $20 on Amazon. Although much slower installs, I know it will work on pretty much any hardware as a boot device.

Just bought a USB CR-Rom drive, thanks for the idea.

I will try iso2usb and report the results.

I just copy the ISO to a hard disk and use BootP. It lets me customize my kickstart file and add some %post script commands to automate some of the tweaks I always do.
