Lets start off with the fact that Thirdlane at its core might be a great product but documentation sucks. For example where can i find pricing for thirdlane Connect ? I can find pricing for everything other then connect which lets me to believe connect is part of the user extension license.
Can anyone confirm or denie
So now as I have that answer
So now as I have that answer , why do i get an error with my lic that i have no connect lic ?
also where can i find an archive of older thirdlane versions so i can restore / reinstall my old
system which you guys decided unusable after upgrade. On that note i recommend you either
implement a lic check prior to upgrade or present a warning that an update will render your system
unusable. I see there a major legal issue for people who own a perpetual lic.
Were you not aware that there
Were you not aware that there is a maintenance fee after year one? We always explain it when we explain licensing, and you can read it here https://www.thirdlane.com/pricing/business-pbx-pricing
To get Thirdlane Connect enabled you do need to get the license up-to-date by purchasing maintenance. That is the simplest option. If that is not what you want, let us know.
Alex,
Alex,
lets make this very clear i purchased a Perpetual lic which included support up to end of 2017, which was 8.2 or so at that time which included already connect. So why do i have to purchase an update if i only want to run 8.2 which falls under my agreement ?
So i request to get a valid key for the supported LIC Key under my past support, if you refuse to provide i will explore other options.
This thread is no longer
This thread is no longer reflecting its subject, so for the benefit of the community I would like to clarify a few points and close it.
1) Thirdlane Connect is currently free for any valid license holder
2) As specified in the License Agreement, maintenance is required for the perpetual license holders after the first year (for any software updates). Updates are available during the maintenance period.
3) We do not provide “frozen” versions of software. New releases of Thirdlane include enhancements, bug fixes and security patches, and are always a step forward. We live in a world with many dependencies, where old software just won’t work with the latest browsers, mobile operating systems, new security restrictions, incompatible APIs, etc. We think that distributing something that is obsolete or has known vulnerabilities would be a disservice to our customers.
4) We recommend our customers to stay current, but don’t force anyone to update every time we have a new release. We do provide release notes, we also have a trial, so anyone can see what’s new, how relevant it is, and make an update decision.
aponnath,
I am still puzzled how you decided to update to 9.1 while saying that you wanted to stay on 8.2 and knowing that your maintenance was through the end of 2017, but let's put this aside, it is a holiday season anyway. We’ll extend your maintenance so that you get your system operational, while asking you to respect the License Terms in the future. To get the license updated, please send a request from the license page of your Communications Manager.
Yes, the documentation "sucks" and does not say anything about Connect license (we just are too focused on the product :) ), and yes, you are right, Thirdlane Connect is free with our platform or as you correctly put it is part of the user extension license.
