Perl Process

We noticed a process called perl recently popped up that's using a lot of our CPU usage. It's used more CPU time today than Asterisk. We see it's associated with /opt/thirdlane/api/bin/api_balancer, but we're not using any APIs to our knowledge. Does anyone know why this would be using so much CPU usage?
