Salesforce Integration

Posted by eherr on Thu, 06/24/2021

Hey all -

For the life of me, I cannot get the salesforce contact source integration working. I have searched for documentation and followed some but nothing is sealing the deal.

What is the best way to test the connection to see if its working? Is there a command line command I can use to see if my credentials and tokens are correct?

I got a 30 day trial for salesforce.

In connect, settings >> Integrations >> Manage Contact Sources >> Add Contact Source
Type: Salesforce
Description: Salesforce
Username: username I use to log into salesforce.com
Password or Access Key: password I use to log into salesforce.com
API Token: Token I received via email from Salesforce. Had to reset it under Account >> My Personal Information >> Reset My Security Token

Click Save. Then in the Integration tab, I make sure Salesforce (salesforce) is listed for Contact Source for caller lookup. Then in the contact tab, I clicked the gear and make sure salesforce was checked to be searched in.

When thats done, I tried looking up a contact that is only in Salesforce and I dont get a result returned.

I have also tried managed apps and OAuth tokens but that doesnt get me anywhere either.

Thoughts? Help?

Thanks!

I have not had success in setting this integration up either. A walkthrough of how this is accomplished would be very helpful.

Which is extremely unfortunate because this is one of the driving forces currently for me on a few clients when selecting a new and/or updated PBX.

Salesforce integration is supposed to work with the recent version. It was broken at some point due to the changes on Salesforce side, but as far as I know is up-to-date now. Unfortunately it is always a moving target.

I think we will have to make the Salesforce connector more transparent and at least report all errors if they are reported by Salesforce (Salesforce API does not always return what's needed for that). I will discuss this with the team - I agree, Salesforce integration is very important, especially for the CallCenter.

Looks like testing with our Salesforce accounts may not always be enough. Would you be able to provide us with your credentials for testing?
