Using an unusual Port on providers

Posted by gregshap on Sat, 12/13/2008

I have 2 providers that do not use port 5060 for SIP. one uses 5070 and the other uses 9060. I cannot get either provider to work, even when I specify the port number in registration string and also in the Host blank. I am using a :5070 after the register string. Is there something I am not doing right or should we have Alex add a port number entry in the Trunk set up area?

Thanks,

greg

Greg,

You can just put port=5070 in the Other options field

Alex,

I just tried that but neither trunks will work. Do I need to take the port number off the register string now? Other options?

Greg,

Do these providers give you any information about the expected Asterisk configuration? Without that it really is too much guessing.

Alex,

Just like most providers, they just give you a Trixbox configuration, as if nothing else exist in the universe.

I did get one working by taking the port number off the HOST setting.

The other provider only gives me User, Password, port number and Host IP.

i also came accross a provider using a different port. i added the port in the reg string and then it worked

register => username:password@sipprovider:6060/username ; trunkname

Whatever settings are working for Trixbox should work with thirdlane. It is only altering the .conf files what did they ask you do with Trixbox?

Cheers,
