Cisco 79x1 Auto Provisioning - default number of lines

Posted by sdennis on Tue, 02/17/2009

I have been testing the new Cisco 79x1 Auto Provisioning and it works great.

One thing that I don't know how to change is the default number of lines. If I create a new extension and specify the phone model and MAC address and create the extension it adds that extension to ALL the lines on the phone. I would like it to just add it to the first line by default. Now I know I can go into Tools-->Auto Provisioning and change these settings, but I would like the default to be just add the extension to the first line when the extension is created. Is this possible?

Thanks for your help.

no, currently all provisioning, linksys, polycom, etc, are setup to provision all buttons to that 1 extension. If you want to alter that behavior you would need to copy models.txt into user_provisioning and alter the profile of the phone as if it had fewer line keys (Or create an entirely new 'model' ) that caps at 1 line.

Thanks for the tip. I modified the models.txt and changed the lines=2 to lines=1 and it worked great.
