Routing multiple DID's at the same time

Posted by ryan.tuttle on Wed, 03/11/2009

I would like to see the ability to select multiple DID's when creating an inbound route. I'm working on reselling SIP trunks and sometimes we can have 100+ DID's that need to get routed to a specific Trunk. It would speed up the process if I only had to fill out the inbound routing form once and just specify all the DID's that need to go on the route.

Typically when you have a block of 100 DIDs, they only differ in the last 2 digits.

So you would specify that inbound route as _12345678XX

The leading _ tells it that it's going to be a pattern match, the X means "any digit". The other 8 numbers would be whatever the rest of your phone number is.

Ok, i didn't see that option in the gui. All it allows me to do is select a DID to route in. I was thinking that since these would normally be routed to a SIP trunk I would just create the rule in the outbound section since that part allows for pattern matching statements in the gui. Would this work?

MTE? In MTE you have to do them 1 route at a time without patterns so that it matches against the tenant. Which then puts you on the hook to assign those routes 1 at a time. You should not be in a position where you are trying to route 100 dids to a specific trunk in MTE, 100 concurrent calls on 1 trunk is an unnecessary drain on the MTE resources that will accelerate the point at which you need another MTE box and another license purchase.

I'm limiting the trunk group to only 23 concurrent calls, but I'm trunking to an Adtran 908 and providing a PRI to the customers existing PBX. These can have quite a few DID's assigned to them but they would definitely not be all in use at the same time. Most of these trunks would only have 5 to 10 DID's assigned to them.
