on one phone which is behind siproxd all incoming calls caller id are coming in as sip calls, the interesting thing is i could return the call like that its just that on the screen it sounds weird
this how it looks on the ID

instead of:

any ideas what might cause it and how to get rid of this

you have to disable URL dialing in the polycom config, using the phone provisioning tools withing thirdlane already apply this option. check in /etc/asterisk/provisioning/polycom_local.cfg to see what I am talking about.
