Supported Version of Asterisk?

Posted by dozment on Fri, 02/29/2008

I am currently running Multi Tenant Thirdlane PBX 5.0.51 and asterisk 1.4.0 I would like to update Asterisk to something closer to 1.4.18 just to stay current. However, my first attempt at upgrading seems to have broken some things. What is the latest version of Asterisk that is supported on the current relase of Thirdlane PBX?

I am running our MTE with 1.4.18

I have clients with single tenant running 1.4.18 and 1.4.16.2

avoid 1.4.17 if you intend to use call parking

what things broke for you?

I have an IVR script that plays a recording and then drops directly into a second recording (so that the end user can quickly put an announcement at the beginning of their script without recording the bulk of their recordings). After the upgrade the script played the first recording and then stopped. I didn't have time to troubleshoot it, so I quickly backed out the upgrade and plan to try again in a proper test environment. Hopefully, whatever it was will be an easy fix.

I did the upgrade to Asterisk BE because we have too many problems with the 1.4.x versions. With lot of traffic, the asterisk wored very bad. I recomed it, I know it is not cheap, but it works great. Very stable, no problems at all.

BTW, as you use MTE, do you have any scrpits to share?

I'm looking for any good report solution, what are you using?

Thanks for the input on BE. That's certainly something to think about.

As for scripts to share, I would love to share them, but I think it would be best if my scripts weren't inflicted on the world (they typically don't work). ;->

Hopefully, I'm a better sysadmin than a coder.

Is there a page or document that documents which versions of Thirdlane MTE support/were tested with which versions of Asterisk? For instance MTE version 6.0 supports (for example) asterisk 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8?
