Any updates to the forum coming?
There are lots of free forums with lots features, automated RSS feeds, send an email when your topic is responded to, etc.
The most popular is phpBB http://www.phpbb.com/ There are lots of sites that host phpBB forums for less than $10 per month.
I know this is forum is brand new, but I think a more modern forum would help communication.

Improved forums
Does anyone know how to 1) integrate thsi in drupal 2) convert data in existing drupal forums to a better forum?
I second this idea! if nothing else a simple search feature is definately required :) phpbb is a great system dead easy to install and it allows you to setup private support forums for paying customers etc etc... just an idea..
