Screen Pops

Thirdlane platform General Questions

Anybody had any luck getting Screen POPs to work ? I have tried Google and Whitepages and neither seem to do anything. I may not know how to work it properly since the manual is missing any real data about it.

OK,

Should it be the IP of the phone or of the Computer with the screen pops screen open on it?

Also, my clients will be coming from an Public IP from another location, are there any ports to open for this.

Does the client just need the CRM screen Pops page open and it pops up there or is there something else to do.

the connection is coming from the PC connecting to the server on port 5038. Try to be as restrictive as possible on your firewall rules to avoid letting unwanted scripts try and access your AMI.

Hi Greg,

By default manger users port 5038, this would require you to allow access throught your firewall. Be careful, opening up asterisk manger over the internet may be a little risky. Alot can be done from asterisk manager using something like telnet.

Aloha,

Can't seem to get the CRM integration working. When we are on the webpage it does not change when the extension gets a call. Attached is the ngrep from the server of port 5038.

I read somewhere that it also uses port 80, we redirect port 80 to 10000.

I read that CRM debugging has been added, how do you access it?

I am trying to get CRM pops working as well. I am confused about manager.conf. My system has a manager.conf file at /usr/libexec/webmin/asterisk/configs/asterisk/manager.conf, which I could edit. When I try to use CRM pops at the user portal, it gives "Could not connect to the server - authentication error". My manager password is still set to "insecure". I am confused about how it uses this password, and what username it would use (?). I have opened up the firewall from the box on 5038 as a source, OK to go anywhere and receive any established connection. I am also confused about the functionality in manager.conf which shows:
permit=192.168.0.0/255.255.0.0 ; RFC 1918 addresses
permit=10.0.0.0/255.0.0.0 ; Also RFC1918
permit=172.16.0.0/12 ; Another RFC1918 with CIDR notation
permit=169.254.0.0/255.255.0.0 ; Zero conf local network
Are these ranges OK to access port 5038, similar to hosts.allow?

OK got it working. Thought I would add this note for similar clueless people like myself.

To get screen pops working you must:

1. edit /etc/asterisk/manager.conf and add subnets that can access the manager. The file is NOT at /usr/libexec/webmin/asterisk/configs/asterisk/manager.conf
2. change "insecure" password in Admin GUI General Settings / Manager Interface access to something, anything, else.
3. enable outbound access to the internet FROM the pbx's IP port 5038
4. enable inbound access for your favorite subnet to get TO the pbx's IP port 5038
5. enable anything required in the Admin & User GUI for CRM Links and Settings
