System Backup and restore

Posted by vcg5090 on Tue, 10/12/2010

Hi,

I was working on backing up and restoring TL MTE. I have altered some of the ports and the way in which the phones connect to autoprovision. I have restored and all looks like its there but some things are missing. I have used the webmin as well as the PBX mgr to backup and restore... Did I miss anything? I would like to know what the exact process is to do a new install and then restore from a full backup is there any documentation on it?

if you use the webmin module 'Backup Configuration Files' there is a section where you can list more directories to backup (like your provisioning directory). Dont forget to do nightly dumps of your mysql database as well.

We are running Asterisk 1.6.0.6 and PBX Manager 6.1.1.5.

We setup the PBX Manager to do a nightly backup and click both boxes to include voicemails and include recorded calls... the backup size is around 300-500MB

Yesterday I did the backup but not on a schedule and the backup is 1.7GB

Any ideas....?

Andrew

1 more issue... i tried to restore the manual backup I did on a test server (1.7GB) all looks good but the MOH files are gone as well as all the caller ID's from each tenant... these did not restore to the test server...

I am sure I will find other things not functioning...
I can't even upload .wav files on this test server it gives me an error.
for the caller ID if i enter them manually they work.

any ideas on these issues?

Regards,
Andrew

Yes the astdb file in directory /var/lib/asterisk is in the backup file

we restored this to a backup server and a few things were broken like MOH... I cant remember the other 2 issues that didnt work after the restore. I will post them as soon as they come back to mind...
