How to view debugging

Posted by eleisure on Thu, 06/16/2011

Hello,

I am relatively new to Thirdlane. I am trying to view debugging so as to capture a SIP registration request from a newly purchased phone. I cannot get it to register for some reason.

I know how to turn on debugging:

sip set debug

However I do not know where to watch or capture the debug log info.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

If you enter the command 'sip set debug' from the asterisk command line, you will see the debug information.

'asterisk -rvvvvvvv' will get you to the asterisk command line.

This is an asterisk question more than a Thirdlane question.

I go to the Command Shell in the Thirdlane GUI and type in the 'asterisk -rvvvvvvv' command and it looks like it is going to take me to the asterisk command line but nothing happens.

My browser's status bar says it is transferring data but it just sits there.

Am I doing this correctly?

Please forgive me for my inexperience with these systems.

ROFL, you actually have to use a SSH session.. this isnt winblows. I highly suggest paying someone for support on a temporary basis until you can get a firm hold on linux (such as reading redhat enterprise for dummies). I would also suggest joining the linux users group in your area and going to their meetings to gain experience until at least the point you feel like you've outgrown them.
