Telephone Fraud Control & Billing Question

Hello,

We are running TL MTE and are interested in an option to control telephone numbers dialed. Can we make a sort of BLACKLIST database that we will not allow our customers to dialout due these numbers charging high fees.

I am trying to stay away from adding additional software such as A2billing to the MTE system and we need limited billing functionality.
Perhaps we can have Thirdlane work on a limited billing option built in the MTE software.
Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

What I did to address this problem was to create a FastAGI script that checked the number dialed against a database of permitted area codes. The database is restricted to area codes in the 50 states. If the area code matched, the call was permitted, if there was no match, the call was denied. What I liked about this solution is rather than simply denying international call patterns, it also denied calls to countries that also use the NANP numbering system. Its also very easy to add additional area codes of the countries that the customer wants to allow. I hope this helps.

Telephone fraud is a big problem. But there are sites which help you by showing comments about untrustworthy numbers.
Here is one of them for example:
