Initial Setup

Posted by ChildOTK on Mon, 07/01/2013

Good Day All,

I have setup an evaluation system and am trying to play around with the system and understand how it works.

I have setup a TRUNK and have setup a DID to use, but am trying to get this to work.

I have an app on my iPhone, 3CX Phone, and am trying to get the app to register the DID I have setup, but have not made any progress unfortunately.

I tried to figure out if the SIP service was actually running or not and it appears to not be running. How can I tell if the services are running properly?

Also, does the system have to work on a domain name, or can it work by just accessing an IP Address?

Thanks!

you dont register softphones as did's you register them as extensions

to test your phone's connectivity to/from your thirdlane box dial some of the extensions listed under feature codes. One, by default, even plays music on hold. Another will call voicemail.

Okay, I tried the voice menu, it rang once but then nothing happened..

I also setup a second extension and tried registering a second soft phone to it, but it keeps coming back saying "Forbidden". I was hoping to have a second phone or extension which I could dial from one phone to another to see if I at least have "internal" communication if you will.

I also tried outbound dialing but nothing happens. Could anybody please help me?

Thank you!

Well, I was finally able to get both soft phones registered and online...I could dial the extension from one to the other and visa versa, and the phone would ring, but upon answering there was no audio...not sure why....any ideas?

Just a note here too...when I call the default 602 which is for testing hold music, I get no audio either...as well as 601 for the voice menu example.

so you are getting sip messaging but no audio..

99% of the time this occurs due to a problem where NAT is involved. Make sure you didnt do something crazy like enable 'redirects' because those sure as hell cant work when the phone's ip is an RFC1918 address. :-)

Did you get it working?

If not - where are you and how can we help?

Thanks...I was actually able to get this to work after enabling NAT and the invite option...

I am now needing help with auto provisioning...we have some Grandstream phones which we'd like to have auto provisioned...I was doing some looking around and also found a provisioning guide from Grandstream, which mentions that you first need a file of cfgMAC and then a cfgMAC.xml file to provision their phones...looking further the initial file needs to be generated using their tools and so I now have their shell script which you need to execute to create everything, but am needing help to make it happen and make sure I know exactly what it needs...

I asked another person about it here: https://www.thirdlane.com/forum/running-sh-script-in-auto-provisioning-…

So am waiting on a response but believe I am close to having this work...I have their config templates as well, so if anybody can help me with the Grandstream phones and auto-provisioning I'd greatly appreciate it...

Thanks so much!
