We have a potential client that would like to set it so that when they chose a second orthird extension on their phone, it would call out as a different DID (with a different caller id). Is this possible? how could it be setup in thirdlane? Thanks for any comments.
Thank you, we didn't end up
Thank you, we didn't end up needing the feature - saved for future reference
Multiple Extensions, Multiple Buttons
I know you mentioned that you didn't need this feature... but I thought I'd update the thread with a relatively simple alternative we use with our customers.
In thirdlane you can set the outbound caller ID on each extension... We simply create a 2nd extension and assign it to the last line button on their SIP phones.
Client's main extension is 115 with an outbound caller-id of aaa-aaa-aaaa and then we setup a 2nd extension of 215 with oubound caller-id of bbb-bbb-bbbb.
If you use a Yealink T28 you will have 6 line buttons to choose from... you setup the a 2nd account in the phone and assign it to the last button. We generally put a tag next to that button on their phone as well.
Seems to work pretty good and most users understand it without much trouble.
in a situation where someone
in a situation where someone wants to masquerade as a lot of different callerid's I used a outbound route pattern like (*71 *72 .. *77 *78 *79 etc) to force different caller ids. One STE customer has a business where they are more or less virtual receptionists for small businesses like plumbers or other companies where the staff is either 1 person or just ones that specialize in the particular task and cant afford support staff yet. So they use the company to answer their calls and place calls as if they were that company. Doing it with line keys would have limited them to only a few potential clients.
its another option to consider when wanting different callerid options.
Is the script alreay in
Is the script alreay in Thirdlane or could you post this script for the *71... Feature codes?
I set a script for dial plan on outbound routh to change the caller ID, so if I start the call with 8 it will show one DID, and if with 9 it will show the other.
its based on tl-dialout-passthrow script
